Tá sé iontach tabhachtach go bhfuil do pháiste in am gach maidin, mar ma bhíonn páiste mall tá se míshocair don rang agus bíonn náire ar an pháiste teacht nuair atá an chuid eile den rang istigh. Ní cheart a bheith mall ag tógáil do pháiste.
Ma tá ag páiste an scoil a fhágáil go luath, caithfear nóta a chur chuig an múinteoir ranga ar an mhaidín sin. Níl cead ag aon pháiste clós na scoile a fhágail gan cead ón múinteoir.
Caithfidh na páistí freastal a dhéanamh ar an scoil go rialta. Tá dualgas ar an scoil ainmneacha na bpáistí a chaill 20 lá nó níos mó a sheoladh ar aghaidh chuig An Bord Náisiúnta Leasa Oideachais. Ma tá páiste as lathair, ba cheart seo a mharcáil síos ar chúl den leabhar obair bhaile. Caithfear é a thaispeaint don múinteoir ranga nuair a fhileann an páiste. Déanfaidh nóta ciús i gcás na Naíonain ag insint cén lá agus an fáth.
Má tá duine difriúil ag tógáil do pháiste aon lá, caithfear teagmháil a dhéanamh leis an scoil ag insint seo roimh ré.
Ar laethanta a chríochnaíonn an scoil ag an 11am do saoire (Nollaig, Cáisc agus Samhradh), níl gá le éide scoile, lón nó malaí.

CULAITH SCOILE
Ba cheart don culaith scoile a bheith glan neata gach lá. Seard atá sa chulaith scoile nó :

- geansaí dubhghorm le muinéal ciorclach suaitheantas na scoile (* nóta thíos)
- t-léine polo bán
Nóta: Is féidir geansaí dubhghorm le muinéal ciorclach a cheannach ó Caroline Lafferty, nó ó aon siopa. Maidir leis an suaitheantas, tá na roghanna seo a leanas ar fáil:
Rogha 1: Fág an geansaí le Coiste na dtuismitheoirí (Louise Ní Mhuigh) roimh 5ú Iúil, agus déanfaidh Louise na suaitheantais a eagrú. Déan cinnte go bhfuil ainm do pháiste ar gach geansaí, agus tóg €5 do Louise don suaitheantas. Beidh Louise i dteagmháil faoi athbhailiú. Thig na geansaithe a fhágail sa scoil do Louise suas go dtí an 30ú Meitheamh.
Rogha 2: Thig suaitheantas scoile a cheannach ó Choiste na dTuismitheoirí ar €4. Is féidir teagmháil a dhéanamh le Louise ar 0868765534 roimh an 5ú Iúil chun socrú a dhéanamh.
Rogha 3: Thig le tuismitheoirí glaoch ar Caroline Lafferty go díreach i gConmhuaidh F93 P5Y8 chun suaitheantais a eagrú.
AG DÉANAMH TEAGMHÁIL LEIS AN SCOIL

Usáidtear ríomhphost agus teacs chun teagmháil ginéaralta a dhéanamh le tuismitheoirí.
I gcas asláithreacht, ba cheart fios a chur chuig an scoil (sa dialann scoile, nó nóta) an fath den aslaithreacht. Thig seo a chuir ar clár riaracháin na scoile ansin.
SLÁINTE AGUS SLÁINTÉACHAS
Ma sheolann an scoil litir amach ag insint go bhfuil míolta gruaige sa scoil, tá sé riachtanach go ndeanann gach teaghlach seiceáil ar a gcuid gruaige fa choinne seo, agus é a chóireáil mas gá.
Ná cuir do pháiste ar scoil má tá siad tinn nó má tá siad ag glacadh aon cinéal leighis.
Déan cinnte go bhfuil cóta agus hata ag do pháiste nuair ata an aimsir fuar nó fliuch.
Ma thógann tú isteach lón ón baile, caithfidh an lón a bheith slaintiúil. Beidh lón te ón Ionad Lae ag teacht achan lá do dhaltaí, chomh maith le lón beag don sos beag. Ní bheidh an scoil ag glacadh páirt sna ordaithe. Beidh eolas ag teacht díreach on Ionad Lae faoi seo i rith an tsamhraidh, ma thugann tú cead don scoil do ríomhphost a roinnt leo.

AG FÁGÁIL / TÓGÁIL DALTAÍ
Mar gheall ar imníthe sabhailteacht, ba mhian leis an Bord Bainistíochta sibh a chur ar an eolas, faoin dóigh a fhágtar agus a thógtar daltaí ar scoil.
Daltaí a thagann ar charr: Caithfear páistí a fhágail de ag geata tosaigh na scoile, agus teacht isteach fríd an gheata seo. Ag a 3, ba cheart do carranna fanacht thuas ag an áit tiontú mar go bhfuil an dhá áit phairceala os comhair na scoile do bhusanna amháin. Beidh na busanna ag fagáil ar dtús agus ansin is feidir le carranna tiomáint anuas chun an gheata le páistí a thógail.
Daltaí a thagann ar bus: Tá a fhios ag na tiomaitheoirí busanna na athraithe seo. Nuair a thagann na páistí ar scoil ar bhus, fágtar iad ag geata tosaigh na scoile fósta. Caithfear páistí teacht isteach fríd an gheata seo.
Daltaí a thagann ag siúl: Ba cheart do pháistí a thagann ag siúl teacht isteach fríd an geata tosaigh ar maidin.
IOMPAR
Tá an scoil ag dreim le caighdéan ard iompar ó na daltaí. Níl céad bagairt de aon sort a dhéanamh. Ní ghlacfar le aon íde béil/fisiciúil a ghortaíonn páiste. Níl céad bulaíocht nó aon chinéal imirt gharbh (cód iompar ar fail ar-líne)
Caithfear clúdach a chur ar cóipleabharaí agus leabharaí scoile uilig. Níl céad ‘scríobh graffitti’ ar leabharaí. Tá ag na páistí omós a thaispeaint do rudaí na scoile.
Níl céad ag aon duine fásta teacht isteach i gclós na scoile le labhairt le páiste, páiste a cheistiú no bagairt a thabhairt do pháiste.
SCOIL GHLAS
Ís scoil ghlas í an scoil. Taispeanann muid do na páistí an doigh le cúram a thabhairt don timpeallacht. Tá muid ag oibriú ar an 7ú brat glas faoi láthair.
Chun costaisí páipear a laghdú, usáidtear ríomhphost le doiciméidí a chur chuig tuismitheoirí.
COISTE NA DTUISMITHEOIRÍ
Tá Coiste na dTuismitheoirí láidir againn sa scoil. Tá fáilte roimh gach tuismitheoir ón scoil a bheith mar bhall de. Oibríonn an Choiste seo leis an Bord Bainistíochta, an phríomhoide agus foireann na scoile. Feicfidh na páistí go bhfuil suim agat iontu agus go gcuireann tú béim ar leas s’acu. Ó seo, feicfidh said an tabhacht atá ag baint le oideachas, obair scoile agus obair bhaile.
COSTAISÍ & ÁBHAIR SCOILE:
Tá costas €30 an dalta chun cuidiú le costaisí scoile na bliana. Thig seo a dhíol tríd Paypal roimh an 26ú Lúnasa 2023. Cinntigh go bhfuil ‘Friends and family’ roghnaithe.
I rith an tréimhse ama sa scoil seo, gheobhaidh na daltaí teacsleabhair ar iasacht gan aon chostas a bheith le díol ag tuismitheoir. Tá sé riachtanach go nglacfar aire mhaith de na leabharaí seo uilig. Caithfidh tuismitheoirí díol ar son aon leabharaí atá damáiste déanta orthu. I mbliana, tá achan teacsleabhar, leabhar oibre agus cóipleabhar curtha ar fail do dhaltaí, chomh aith le roinnt abhair ranga.. Cinntigh fósta go bhfuil abhair sa bhaile chun obair bhaile a dhéanamh.

ABHAIR EILE GINEARALTA
Is scoil Gaeltachta í S.N. Taobhóige. Labhairtear gaeilge i rith an lae, agus múintear na hábhair scoile i nGaeilge. Ba cheart go spreagtar an ghaeilge ag déanamh obair bhaile tré cuntas i nGaeilge srl. Ní mhúintear aon Béarla go dtí go mbíonn na daltaí i Rang a 1. Is fríd an luath-thumoideachas a fhoghlaimíonn na naíonáin an Ghaeilge.
Cuir ainm an pháiste ar a gheansaí, a chóta, a bhosca lón, a mhála scoile, pinn luaidhe srl. Ba cheart insint don muinteoir ranga láithreach ma ta aon rud caillte.
Níl céad ag na páistí fón póca a thabhairt ar scoil.
Ní cheart aon airgead/rudaí luachmhara eile a thabhairt na scoile. Usáidtear Paypal chun costaisí móra scoile a dhíol arlíne, cosúil le snámh, leabharaí, turais. Cinntigh go n-usáidtear an rogha ‘Friends and family’ i gconaí. Beidh teacs ag dul chugat leis an nasc don suíomh paypal. Má tá aon airgead le tabhairt don múinteoir ba cheart é a bheith istigh i gclúdach litreach le ainm an pháiste, an méid airgead agus an rud atá sé fá na choinne scríofa air.
AGUS MAR FHOCAL SCOIR Má tá aon cúis imní ort faoi do pháiste, dean coinne chun labhairt liomsa nó leis an múinteoir ranga. Tcífidh tú go mbíonn fath simplí de ghnath agus go dtig linn oibriú fríd go simplí. Na cur ar an mhéar fhada é. Tá sé níos fear dealáil le rudaí go luath. Ta muid anseo le tacaíocht a thabhairt duit. Tá súil agam oibriú leat that an 8 mbliana amach romhainn. TIME / ATTENDANCE
The school will open to receive pupils each day at 9.20am and finishes at 3.00pm. Children should remain in their car until the class door is opened at 9.20am. No responsibility is accepted by the Board of Management for pupils arriving before 9.20am. or after 3.00p.m.
For Junior infants, the school day shall finish at the following times:
Wednesday 30th August 11am.
Thursday 31st August - Friday 15th September 12.30pm.
Monday 18th September to end of year 2pm.
It is very important that your child is in school on time as lateness is unsettling for everyone and children find it embarrassing to be the last to arrive in when all the others are settled. Also, please be on time to collect your child. Parents should ensure that they are not late, as the children get fretful if they are not collected on time.
If a child must leave the school early, please send a note in to the class teacher that morning. No child is allowed to leave the schoolyard without prior permission from the teacher.
Children must attend school regularly. The school is obliged to inform the National Educational Welfare Board when a child misses 20 days or more in any school year. If a child is absent, this should be marked in the back pages of their homework diary. This should be given to the class teacher upon their return. In the case of infants, a note will suffice stating the child’s name, date and reason for absence.
Please contact the school beforehand to inform the teacher if somebody unknown to the school is collecting your child any day.
On days that we close at 11am for school holidays (Christmas, Easter and Summer), uniforms, bags or lunches are not needed.
HOMEWORK

UNIFORM
Uniforms should be neat and tidy each day. The uniform consists of:
- plain navy trousers / skirt
- navy roundneck sweatshirt with school crest (*note below)
- white polo shirt
Note*: Plain navy round neck sweatshirts may be bought from Caroline Lafferty, or from any shop or uniform supplier.
Regarding the crest, the following options are available:
Option 1: Leave your school sweatshirt with the parents Committee (via Louise Moy) before
5th July, who will arrange logo embroidery on the sweatshirt. Ensure your child's name is on each jumper, and enclose €5 per logo. Louise will be in touch with you regarding collection. The jumpers may be left in the school (for collection by Louise) up to the 30th June.
Option 2: The school badge can be purchased from the Parents Committee. The cost per badge is €4. Louise can be contacted before 5th July on 0868765534 to arrange.
Option 3: Parents may call to Caroline Lafferty directly at Convoy F93 P5Y8 to arrange embroidery/badge purchase.
CONTACTING THE SCHOOL

Email and text are used to send general communication to parents.
After all absences, parents should inform the school (via school diary, or note to class teacher) the reason for the absence. This is then included on the school admin system.
HEALTH AND HYGIENE
If the school sends out a letter informing parents of head lice infestation in the school, it is vital that all families check their hair for this, and treat if necessary.
Children should not be sent to school if they are sick or taking medication.
Children must bring a coat and hat to school if the weather is cold or wet.
If children bring in a lunch from home, it must be a healthy lunch. The local day centre are suppling hot food each day to childen, with snacks from the small break. The school will not be involved in the organising of this. If you give the school permission to share your email, the day Centre shall then contact you directly during the summer regarding the ordering of food.
Children are allowed bring a small treat on Friday.
DROPPING OFF / COLLECTING PUPILS
Due to safety concerns, the Board of Management wish to make parents aware of how children are dropped off and collected for school.
Pupils travelling by car: If you travel by car, pupils must be dropped off at the front of the school, and enter the premises through the front gates. At 3 o clock, all cars should wait at the turn table as both front areas are reserved for buses only. The bus shall be leaving the school premises first, and then the cars may drive down to the front gate to collect children.
Pupils travelling by bus: When arriving in the morning, children will be dropped at the front of the school and they should enter the premises through the front gates.
Pupils travelling on foot: Children walking to school should enter through the front gates only, and not through the staff car park.
CONDUCT
High standards of behaviour are expected from all pupils. All forms of intimidation and threats are forbidden. Any verbal or physical abuse that hurts a child will NOT be tolerated. Bullying and rough play are forbidden (code of discipline available online)
All copybooks and schoolbooks must be covered and free from graffiti. Children are to show respect for all school property.
Children in the school are also entitled to protection from adults. No adult has the right to enter the school or yard to speak to or question a child.
GREEN SCHOOL
The school partakes in the ‘green school‘ campaign whereby pupils are encouraged to be mindful of their environment. This year we are working towards our 7th green flag.
To reduce postage and paper costs in the school, correspondence is sent by text/email, where possible.
PARENTS' ASSOCIATION
A vibrant Parents' Association/Council is in existence in the school. Membership is open to all parents/guardians of all pupils enrolled. It promotes the interests of the pupils in
co-operation with the BOM, Principal and staff. The more interest a parent shows in their child's education the happier a child is. By being involved in your child's education at as many levels as you can, you are demonstrating to your child that you are interested in them and that you care about their welfare. In turn they will see the importance of school and education and have a positive attitude towards school work and homework.
SCHOOL COSTS
As a contribution to school costs, €30 (per child) for the year is payable. This can be paid by Paypal before 26th August 2023 (Please ensure you select the ‘Friends and Family’ option)
Throughout your child’s time in the school, textbooks are given to the children each year to use, but must be returned again at the end of the school year. It is vital that great care be taken of all books. Parents must pay for the cost of damaged books. This year, textbooks, copybooks and workbooks have all been purchased, together with some requisites. A list of school resources needed by each child shall be given to parents. Please ensure that a spare set of resources is kept at home for homework. The following must be supplied by parents for junior infants:
Pack of Twistables (child’s name must be on all twistables)
Empty pencil case
1 x mála tuff (to fit A4 books comfortably)
OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION
S.N. Taobhóige is a Scoil Gaeltachta. Irish is spoken throughout the school day, with subjects being taught through the medium of Irish. Parents should encourage the use of Gaeilge while doing homework by counting in Gaeilge etc. No English is taught until pupils begin 1st class. Pupils in the infant classes are totally immersed in Gaeilge for the schoolday.
The child’s name should be clearly marked on all jumpers, coats, lunchboxes, schoolbags, pencils etc. The class teacher should be informed straight away if any item is misplaced.
Children are not permitted to take mobile phones to school.
Money/valuables should not be taken to school. Paypal is used by the school to receive large school costs online, such as book costs, swimming costs, tours etc. Please ensure the option ‘Friends and Family’ is always selected. A link will be sent via text with the school paypal address. If money is to be brought to school for smaller items, it should be placed in an envelope with the child’s name, amount of money and the purpose for the money all clearly marked on the envelope.
AND FINALLY We in S.N. Taobhóige pride ourselves on being a welcome and open school. If you need advice or have a concern regarding your child, make an appointment at the office to meet with your class teacher or with me. You will usually find that there is a simple explanation and it can be worked out through discussion. Whatever you do, don't let the matter fester. If an issue is dealt with at an early stage it is usually best for everyone especially your child. We will strive to do our best by your child and will always be there to support you. We look forward to working with you over the next 8 years.
